The recall involved 26,000 BMW 7 Series luxury flagship sedan, which was produced from July 1st to December 11th, 2015. Among them, 6,110 vehicles were recalled in the US market, 4,700 vehicles were recalled in China, and 2,600 vehicles were recalled in Germany. All 2016 models are available in the US market for the 740Li, 750Li and 750Lxi.
BMW explained that the airbag control components of the vehicle were recalled or that there was a malfunction, so that the airbag might not be able to deploy normally during an accident. The faulty components are supplied by the Continental Group. A spokesperson for the BMW Group said, “This is just a mere preventive measure.†There are no reports of accidents leading to accidents.
To date, the BMW Group has produced a total of 47,000 new generation 7 Series cars. This BMW recall and 26,000 vehicles exceeded half of them.
The BMW document did not give an end date for the suspension of sales in the US market. The recall notice will be sent to the relevant owners in succession from May. The faulty vehicle needs to be repaired for four hours at the dealership.
