China Jaguar Land Rover's largest market On December 12, Jaguar Land Rover, a luxury car manufacturer, released its sales data for November this year. Last month, Jaguar Land Rover sold nearly 30,000 vehicles worldwide, an increase of 14% year-on-year. In the previous November, it sold 324,000 vehicles, an increase of 32% year-on-year. The first 11 months of sales in the Chinese market ranked first in the single market.

Overall Sales: Jaguar Falls, Land Rover Surges

In November, Jaguar Land Rover sold 29,893 vehicles worldwide, which was compared to 26,335 units in November 2011, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. Among them, the Jaguar brand accounted for 13.5% of the total sales. 4,031 units were sold in the month, a slight decrease of 5.4% year-on-year, and 4,260 units in the same period last year. The Land Rover brand contributed 86.5% of the total. The sales volume for the month increased by 17.2% from 22,075 vehicles to 25,862 units.

From January to November, Jaguar Land Rover accumulated global sales of 324,184 vehicles, which was a 32.2% year-on-year increase on the basis of 245,192 vehicles in the same period of 2011. According to the fiscal year of the parent company Tata Group (this fiscal year from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013), the cumulative sales for the current fiscal year (from April to November) was 225,576 units, which was higher than the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. 178,163 vehicles increased by 26.6% year-on-year. From April to November this year, sales growth has slowed from the average of the previous 11 months.

The cumulative sales volume of Jaguar brands for the current calendar year has continued to increase, but cumulative sales for the current fiscal year have declined due to a year-on-year decline in sales volume in recent months. From January to November, Jaguar's global sales increased by 6.6% from the same period of last year to 48,908 units, from 45,871 units. From April to November, Jaguar's global sales decreased by 1.5% from 33,989 units to 33,477 units.

The cumulative sales volume of the Land Rover brand in both the calendar year and the current fiscal year maintained a year-on-year increase of over 30%. From January to November, Land Rover’s global sales increased by 38.1% from 199,321 vehicles to 275,276 vehicles. From April to November, Land Rover’s global sales increased by 33.2% from 144,174 vehicles to 192,099 vehicles.

Regional sales: China leaps to the largest market

In November, sales of Jaguar Land Rover in most of the major single and regional markets showed an upward trend, and only fell in the downturn in Europe. The Chinese market has grown particularly rapidly, with cumulative sales in both November and the first 11 months ranking first.

Jaguar Land Rover sold 6,879 vehicles in China in November, 4,810 vehicles in November last year, an increase of 43.0%; from January to November, Jaguar Land Rover accumulated sales of 65,146 units in the current calendar year in China, compared with the same period last year. 37,636 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 73.1%; from January to November, Jaguar Land Rover accumulated sales of 47,147 vehicles in the fiscal year of China, compared with 28,866 vehicles in the same period of last fiscal year, an increase of 63.3% year-on-year.

In fact, in October this year, the Chinese market (4,651 units) surpassed the British mainland (4,575 units) and the United States (4,216 units), becoming the monthly sales champion of Jaguar Land Rover. However, cumulative sales in the first 10 months are still lower than in the UK, with 58,267 vehicles and 58,939 vehicles respectively. By November, China had won the championship for cumulative sales, and foreign media expected that Jaguar Land Rover’s annual sales in China will surpass that of the United Kingdom and the United States this year.

In November, sales of Jaguar Land Rover in the UK increased by 15.1% year-on-year to 4,276 units from 4,582 vehicles. From the previous 11 months, 53,460 units increased by 20.1% from the same period last year to 64,215 units.

In November, sales of Jaguar Land Rover in the United States fell by 5.9% year-on-year to 4,843 units in the United States from 5,201 units, and from the 48,061 units in the first 11 months of the year by 12.2% year-on-year to 53,909 units.

In November, sales of Jaguar Land Rover in Europe outside the United Kingdom increased by 11.9% to 6,829 units from 6,101 units; from the previous month, 52,342 units increased by 37.3% from the same period last year to 71,882 units.

In November, sales of Jaguar Land Rover in China and Asia outside of China increased by 25.9% to 1,428 units from 1,134 units, and from 11,246 units in the first 11 months to 36,9%.
