August new car registrations in Spain dropped by 23.8% year-on-year

According to the statistics of the Spanish Automobile Industry Association, in August, the registration of VW SEAT fell by 23.8% to 3,677 vehicles, becoming the highest-selling car brand in Spain; the registration volume of PSA Peugeot Citroën fell 21.8% year-on-year to 3,500 units. Ranked second; Ford's registration dropped by 30.4% year-on-year to 3,450, ranking third.

In August, 29% of new car markets in Spain were gasoline-powered cars and 71% were diesel-powered cars. The top-selling model Renault Megane sold 1,813 units, followed by the Seat Ibiza and Citroen C4 models, with sales of 1,625 units and 1,506 units respectively.

Analysts predict that with the withdrawal of the government’s auto subsidy policy, consumers’ enthusiasm for car purchases will decrease, and Spanish car sales will show a downward trend in the second half of this year.
