The steady state strong magnetic field experimental device project of Chinese Academy of Sciences passed the process acceptance and identification

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] On June 13th, the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device project passed the process acceptance and process appraisal organized by the Condition Protection and Finance Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The expert group unanimously considered that: the steady state magnetic field device magnet technology and synthesis Performance reached the international advanced level.

The Process Acceptance Expert Group and Process Appraisal Committee consisted of Wuhan Institute of Materials and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Physics, Institute of Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Yingwu, National Astronomical Observatory, University of Science and Technology of China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang University. Thirteen experts from the Northwest Non-ferrous Institute formed and Academician Ye Zhaohui served as the head of the process acceptance expert group and the director of the process appraisal expert committee. Related comrades from the Bureau of Finance and Economics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the appraisal meeting. At the acceptance meeting, General Manager Ji Guangli of the device made a report on the development of a steady state strong magnetic field experimental device. Gao Bingjun, a chief engineer of the device, made a device technology report. Academician Shen Baogen reported the results of the process test.
The experts reviewed the process report and process test report of the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device and examined the results obtained during the trial operation of the project. After questioning and full discussion, the experts unanimously agreed that the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device was accepted by the process professional group. The process appraisal opinion was given: “A steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device consisting of a hybrid magnet and water-cooled magnet and its supporting equipment system and experimental system was built. All the construction tasks have been completed according to the requirements of the project indicators. Some magnets and experimental systems are practical. The technical indicators achieved have significantly exceeded the targets specified in the “Preliminary Design” of the project; an innovative design scheme for water-cooled magnets has been proposed, and a set of high-precision assembly processes that can be quantitatively detected has been developed. There are three magnets in the completed water-cooled magnets. A world record, the strong magnetic field water-cooled magnet technology has reached the world's leading level; the development of hybrid magnets has successfully overcome the technical difficulties of designing Nb3Sn superconducting magnets with an aperture of 800 mm and a magnetic field strength of 10 T, and processing technology, and realized a large Nb3Sn superconducting magnet. Breakthrough in technology to achieve world-class Level, a 40T steady-state hybrid magnet is built, and there is potential for further improvement; the world’s first strong anti-disturbance scanning tunneling microscope system under strong magnetic field, STM-MFM-AFM combined microscope system was built, and a low-temperature ultrahigh-pressure system under strong magnetic field was built. The steady-state strong magnetic field-related experimental conditions in China have reached the international leading level. The expert group unanimously agreed that the steady-state strong magnetic field device magnet technology and comprehensive performance have reached the international advanced level."
The Chinese Academy of Sciences' Condition Safeguarding and Finance Bureau congratulated the Strong Magnetic Field Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the completion of the construction of the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device and reached the international leading level, and hoped to complete the follow-up inspections of various professional groups as planned.
