On September 30, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. had decided to recall from October 30, 2014, in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls. The following parts of the car, a total of 134,180 vehicles.
Some of the 5 Series (standard wheelbase version, GT), 6 series, X5 and X6 vehicles imported by BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. from March 2007 to June 2011, a total of 68,090 vehicles; BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. From March 2010 to October 2011, the domestic 5-series long-wheelbase version of the car produced a total of 66,090 vehicles.
Some of the vehicles within the scope of this recall may be faulty due to the manufacturer's manufacturing reasons. The fuel pump cover is damaged and there is a potential risk of fuel leakage, which poses a safety hazard.
The above two companies will inspect the vehicles within the scope of the recall and replace the qualified fuel pumps for free to eliminate potential safety hazards.
The recall was carried out under the influence of the AQSIQ defect investigation. For some time, the AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center has received complaints from some consumers about the fuel leaks in BMW cars. After receiving the complaint, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine immediately organized experts to conduct defect investigation and risk assessment on the above issues. After investigation, it was found that the fuel pump supplier had problems in the production process of the fuel pump. Experts believe that the fuel pump cover is damaged, which will lead to fuel leakage and even cause the vehicle to catch fire. The above two companies decided to take recall measures to eliminate the hidden troubles. At the same time, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine will organize supervision of this recall activity. If vehicles outside the scope of the recall are found to have similar safety hazards, or the recall measures cannot effectively eliminate the defects, the producers will be required to recall them again or take other enforcement measures.
