Basic working principle of soil profile moisture sensor
The water sensor for the soil profile of RuiYenZhihua consists of a PVC casing vertically buried in the soil and a probe placed in the casing. The soil profile moisture sensor uses a frequency measurement method to reflect the dielectric properties of the surrounding soil by measuring the probe port impedance. The working principle of the sensor is shown in Figure 8. 
Figure Soil Profile Moisture Sensor Measurement Schematic The probe is part of the oscillator LC resonant tank and the amplitude of the probe port impedance is measured by measuring the oscillator output frequency. The port impedance of the probe has a certain correlation with the soil moisture content around the probe. Therefore, the moisture content of the soil around the probe can be obtained by measuring the output frequency of the oscillator.
