U.S. funding for microalgae biofuels
On June 29, 2010, the U.S. Department of Energy funded 24 million U.S. dollars for three research consortia to accelerate the commercial scale production of seaweed-based biofuels. In addition, the Department of Energy issued the microalgae biofuels technology roadmap. The first edition of the microalgae fuel roadmap was released in 1996. This roadmap combines the results of the US microalgae biofuel technology route and was released in June 2009. .
